Vierschanzen Skispringen Tournee Bischofshofen

Skijumping...a very famous sport in the area I'm in. The jumpers are like popstars here cos they're as young as 16! And to think that the top prize for this event is a Nissan car... alamak, dunno the fella got license or not also! Anyways, the event was held in Bischofshofen in Austria, about 1.5 hours away. Here's the piston set in the mountains of the Austrian Alps. Looks like there's still SOME snow... but it's more like sludge.
See the white patch starting at the top left? That's where the fella starts skiing down the narrow piston, then lifts off at the end of it, drifts in the air over the broader piston below and lands on the red lines in the picture below.
The screen on the extreme left shows us the skijumper as he makes his start and jump.
The end of the piston where the skijumper has to usually break pretty hard with the kind of speeds they're going at.

People clearing and levelling the snow during the break. Check out how small they are on the piston... gives u an idea of how high the guy is flying in the air with his skis!! Now THAT needs a bloody good pair of balls and knees I'd say!!Milka was the other sponsor together with Jack Wolfskin and Nissan. Most of the supporters were Austrian and this was like the World Cup for them! We were with our mini Germany flag and pink trumpette... altho we were rooting for the Norwegian Anders Jacobsen, the Austrian won this round. There were 4 rounds held in Germany, Austria and some other countries and the overall winner was Jacobsen.
Below is a photo I kapo-ed from somewhere. That's the view the guy has from up there!!
